Jody’s Lawn Care is a year-round service provider. Canada is a country with multitudes of temperature changes, precipitation forms, and ever-changing effects on the environment around us. Jody’s wants to be sure we help you with as much of the tasks generated by our beautiful nation as possible: so of course we shovel snow. 

JLC prides itself on our maintenance of extensive snow equipment, reliable snow clearing teams, and a willingness to be out in the dark and cold, pushing heavy frozen ice crystals. Our teams are dressed for the cold, are proud of our stamina, and ready to keep parking lots, driveways, walkways and front steps clear! 

 We begin to build our snow lists, composed of commercial and residential properties, starting in September. Our estimator will come out for an in-person visit to your property to assess the needs and snow moving capabilities and create a fair price based on the time and effort that will likely be required. It is imperative that at this time snow piling is discussed to ensure that snow is left in areas that do not inhibit your life and are feasible for our team to accommodate.  

We prioritize our commercial properties due to the nature of businesses and the importance of public safety. Therefore, these are the properties we first attend to following a snow fall. Depending on the contract, we may visit these properties numerous times throughout the day/snowfall to ensure they stay clear and safe. Our service at commercial sites includes salting/sand, unless a waiver is signed requesting we not salt; this is not only for liability, but public safety as well. We can also provide salt and salt bins for use of the property residents for an additional fee. All of this is discussed based on the property scope of work and customer requirements. 

We also offer snow pile removal services through co-operation with trusted contractors to help remove large snow piles/build ups that may create space or flooding issues; please reach out if your site has limited space for snow build-up and could benefit from this service.  

In the last few years there has been a shortage of salt, and it is only through our long-standing relationship with our salt providers that we are able to guarantee our salt availability. We can therefore promise that if we are contracted to salt your property, it will be done! 

We are serious about our snow removal efforts, ensuring we have the appropriate insurance and training to manage the tools and machines we use in these less-than-ideal conditions. We do require that cars not be on the driveway to enable ease of access and remove any chance of damage from ice chunks, stone, or blades/shovels. We are unable to clear snow between cars in parking lots for similar reasons.  

Residential snow service is offered to our year-round customers (those that employ us for lawn/garden services in the warm season as well). This ensures that we are familiar with the properties and able to offer consistent, loyal, care to our customers. We will always adhere to a belief that we want to provide quality care over quantity, and therefore we ensure that we could provide snow removal for our existing customers, rather than offering stand alone snow services that may take away from our existing clientele. Snow removal is commenced once a snow event has stopped with an accumulation of greater than two inches (2”) of precipitate, and the majority of the storm has passed by (the snow fall has paused for more than two hours and does not look to be starting again for at least a day). We do not generally include salting for our residential properties, as this responsibility is often at the discretion of the homeowner.  

Snow removal is accomplished with a mixture of machine/vehicle use and hand shovelling. Driveways/lane ways can be back dragged with a tractor or truck, with details such as walkways being completed with riding machines or hand shovelling (depending on the site and accessibility). We take specific requests for additional areas to be cleared (garage side door, side entrance to house, etc.) and are sure to add these to the job notes so the team are aware when they have the property on their lists. The programs we utilize to track our snow services encourages detail recording and notation between the office and our operators, to provide a clear communication path and reduce mistakes or missed opportunities for customer satisfaction.  

The snow season is not an easy time of year, it can be frigid and grueling, Winter merciless in the randomness of snow squalls or the continuous snowfall is lays upon us. It is not an easy job, and sometimes fun is not a word associated with it, but it is necessary and for our customers we are happy to help.
