As our name suggests, at Jody’s Lawn Care (JLC) we take pride in maintaining and improving the lawns of our customers all over Norfolk County. Having started in Port Dover with nothing more than a bicycle and a push mower, Jody has made it his life’s work to create a team devoted to providing meticulous lawn care. Our experience of over 30 years of service has taught us that components such as valued employees, quality tools to do the jobs, and customer service are the keys to a successful lawn care operation. 

Our skilled employees utilize equipment ranging from smaller push mowers and riding lawn mowers right up to the impressively mobile zero-turn riding lawn mowers and stand-on mowers. All our machines are commercial grade to ensure that they can handle the workload we require of them; this reduces down-time and increases reliability. JLC crews are also equipped with weed whackers to tidy and trim along edges of turf areas; we also offer the options of mulching clippings or bagging them and having us take them away for your convenience. We otherwise ensure that with our gas-powered blowers we clear all walks and driveways. We strive for a fresh, clean, Better Homes and Garden magazine-type look. 

There is more to maintaining a nice lawn beyond the obvious “keep it green”. Understanding the environment in which you are growing your grasses in is important, as is looking at how much wear and tear it is required to absorb. Our lawn crews are observant of the turf they are responsible for, and confident when adjusting cutting length, or making the decision to skip a cut when it is in the best interest of your lawn’s health. They also communicate regularly with our manager with feedback about the properties on their lists, which may lead to our office reaching out to suggest additional lawn services (such as grub control or specific grass seed blends).  Should you request a quote for lawn cutting, recommendations may be made on incorporating our weed and fertilizer packages to help your lawn be well fed and reduce the weed burden, leaving more nutrients and space for your turf to grow. Additive jobs such as lawn rolling, aeration, topsoiling and seeding are also services we are pleased to provide, just reach out if you would like to know more! 

Another service we offer is holiday cut availability to our customers. We can add your property to our cut schedule for the times you are away – making sure your lawn has just as good a vacation as you do! This ensures that your property looks inhabited and assures you that someone is checking the property at least once a week while you are away; some insurance companies require frequent check-ins to keep your coverage active during vacation periods.  It is also a recommendation by police services that there be activity at the property; the JLC team are happy to co-ordinate with your friends or neighbours to help keep your property secure. 

Since we live in Canda, and as you are all aware Mother Nature can be a fickle mistress, we adjust our schedules based on statutory holidays and the weather conditions; if there is no growth, or the ground is too wet, we will either shift the schedules by a day or skip the cut that week. We do not cut if the lawn does not require it, and there is no charge for the missed cut. We greatly appreciate when a customer calls us a couple days ahead of their scheduled cut day to let us know that their lawn has not grown, especially when there are drought conditions in various parts of our coverage areas. 

We also encourage our customers to communicate their specifications to guarantee we meet their needs. Some frequent requests are:  

• specific lines (the magic green criss-crosses across a large turf area look inspiring) 
• specific grass cut lengths (whether longer or shorter than our usual) 
• avoiding areas that have perhaps been re-seeded or had recent garden work 
• asking us to skip a cut due to lack of growth or family plans  

For any of these changes or requests, we ask that you provide 48 hours notice prior to your scheduled day to enable us to speak with our crews and make sure everyone is on the same page; we are not in our office during the weekend, and our teams start prepping for their work lists very early in the morning, and the phones/emails may not have been checked prior to their departure.
